(N) Faun SLT-56 Franziska

The model of the Faun SLT 56 with 56 t lowboy trailer in 1:160 scale for N gauge shows the heavy tank transporter of the Bundeswehr, often unofficially called “Franziska”. The heavier Leopard 2 called for a stronger transporter, so from 1989 the Bundeswehr procured 49 vehicles to supplement the SLT 50 Elefant. The 8x6 tractor was designed for road use and pulls a Kässbohrer lowboy trailer. At first glance it can be told apart from the Elefant by its twin headlights. Fits well at a highway rest area during a night move or at the end ramp of a military loading station on the N gauge layout.
