Panzer-ShopNL models are so popular because they are made from a special professional 3D resin that allows the finest details while staying strong, because our own 3D designers create them from scratch for the right scale, and because small production runs let us offer far more variety at a better price-to-quality ratio than conventionally produced models. In this article we explain what these three factors mean in practice and why they set us apart from other manufacturers.
The material: professional 3D resin
Our vehicles and other products are made from a special professional 3D resin. This material allows outstanding detail while keeping its strength. Even the finest parts, such as mirrors, stay stable and don't break off.
Just as important is how well the material takes paint, so you can paint your models realistically using the techniques from our How-To series.
By comparison, the limits of other production methods become clear:
- Injection moulding: This method often results in noticeably less detail, as the technique itself sets limits.
- Standard 3D printing: This often lacks smooth surfaces and fine details, as the process is technically limited.
Our models combine both: the finest details and a smooth, clean surface.
The precision: accurate to 0.02 mm
The details of our models are printed with an accuracy of up to 0.02 mm, a level of precision that holds up even under close inspection.
This is possible thanks to our own 3D designers, who design the base models from the start specifically for the 1:160, 1:120, 1:220 or 1:87 scales. While other manufacturers are often held back by technical limits, a lack of expertise or the need to sell every model in large quantities, this allows us to make far more precise and detailed models in much smaller production runs. As a result, our range now includes more than 2,500 unique models.
The result: more unique models at a clearly better price, a price-to-quality ratio that is hard to beat compared to other manufacturers.
One piece for more variety
Many of our models are deliberately made as a single piece. This makes the design process much simpler, and that ultimately benefits you.
The reason is simple: ask 50 model railway enthusiasts which vehicle they would like for their layout and you will get 50 different answers. By making models as a single piece, we can offer exactly that variety and actually fulfil more of those 50 wishes, instead of limiting ourselves to a few mass-produced models.
